Adam Goodes holds an elite place in Australian sports history – a dual AFL Brownlow Medallist and premiership player for the Sydney Swans, four-time All-Australian, member of the Indigenous Team of the Century and representative in the International Rules Series.

Goodes, a proud Adnyamathanha man, is just as well known for his impact off the field, and in 2014 was named the Australian of the Year in recognition of his community work and advocacy in the fight against racism and empowering the next generation of Indigenous Australians.

Adam took to the stage at Congress to help unpack some of the social challenges that the property industry faces as we see greater demands for social license and reconciliation actions, as well as providing personal perspectives and reflections.

Leigh Sales AM is a multi-award-winning author and journalist at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and for twelve years, anchored the network’s prime-time current affairs program 7.30.   She has been the face of the ABC’s major events coverage, including federal election and budget nights. She has interviewed every living Australian Prime Minister and innumerable world leaders and celebrities from Hillary Clinton and Tony Blair to Paul McCartney and Elton John.

Leigh has held numerous roles at the ABC, including as Washington Correspondent, and is a three-time winner of Australia’s highest journalist prize, the Walkley Award.

One of Australia’s most respected journalists, Leigh Sales, talked about some of the inspiring people she’s met during her career and what they’ve taught her about leadership, overcoming self-doubt and seizing opportunity. She also explored the idea of resilience and what it really means in practice, when life can change suddenly and unexpectedly.
